I am 39 weeks pregnant and having period like cramps will labor start soon?
I am 39 weeks pregnant and having period like cramps in my back and stomach, but I haven't lost my mucus plug yet, when will labor start or how will I know right before it does, will I feel any different?
Best Answer:
when your labour starts you will know because you will curdle over in pain. however i had a 30 hour labour with my son that started out with a cramp every half hour, that just progress from there. good luck, but when your in active labour you will know

Oh you will def. know when its labor..
In true labor the pain tends to begin high in your abdomen, radiating throughout your entire abdomen and lower back, or visa versa, and literally will take your breath away, you wont be able to walk, talk, or sit comfortably through true labor.

Sounds to me like it has already started! I would keep an eye on your contractions they will most likely get stronger over the day! If they get five min apart for an hour go to the hospital! You do not have to lose your mucus plug i did not with any of my kids so GOOD LUCK!

they're probably mild contractions. women always worry that they won't know when labor starts....i was one of them. but believe me, you'll know when it's happening!

Sounds like you are having contractions. If they become 4-6 minutes apart you are definitely in active labor and need to get to the hospital! Good luck!

it may be contractions or you may be dehydrated. i had period like cramps and they said i was dehydrated. go lay on your left side and drink lots of water, see if they go away. if they dont then your in labor!! good luck

You will know true labor when the pain is constant
and does not go away. The contractions increase
and get closer together.
If your water breaks, you have to go to the hospital.
The plug can break down over the course of days
and you may or may not notice it.
Braxton-Hicks, (false labor) contractions are helping to prepare your body for labor. Keep your appointments with
your obstetrician.

You are feeling the early dilatation cramps. At this point in time, your cervix is just beginning to open. Be patient, it has a long way to go, before the downward movement really begins. Believe me, you will know. Your lower back will hurt, you will feel like you crotch is passing a bowling ball.!!!!. When you start to leak fluid, or your Hard very pain-full, contractions are about 5 minutes apart, head to the hospital, unless, you live a long distance away.
Don't be afraid, relax and try to enjoy the miracle you are experiencing. As soon as you hold that newborn baby in your arms, all of the pain will be forgotten.
