Question:

39 weeks pregnant with lower back pain and general crampiness?

Hi there. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and just started experiencing some pretty intense lower back pain with some menstrual like cramps in my lower abdomen. I called my midwife and I decided to try and stick it out at home as long as possible to see if they got worse or let up. I tried tylenol and a hot shower and both didn't alleviate the pain. Has anyone else had this experience?

Oooo! You're fixing to have a baby!!! You're in early labor. So start walking around a bit. It helps. When you have contractions stand and rock your pelvis in and out. That will help the baby ease its way into the birth canal. If you have a birthing ball that helps tremendously! This may be hard to do. But as your contractions get stronger and you go into active labor, try to relax your body. And give in to what you're body is doing. Moaning and deep, slow breathing will help. Don't tense up or scream, because your whole body responds to this. Including your uterus. Midwives are awesome. You're in great hands. You'll be fine. Enjoy your baby. Time flies! Congratulations!!! yes, sounds familiar. I'd say your close. Well obviously, your 39 weeks. But your body gets to a point where it is just tired. THose kind of cramps and pain is what my labor felt like at first. Not enough to really complain about, but just enough to get you th inking, "Is this it?"

Im 39 weeks also and have been having those pains for weeks now, but not regular. If they get more intense and/or regular head up to the hospital, if they are inconsistant or dont get worse, just wait it out. Good Luck!!!!

i did and later that day my placenta ruptured, while that is not common just make sure if you start to lose A LOT of blood get to a hospital don't bother going to the midwife as you will need an emergency c-section. I though was at about 36ish weeks along if the pain does not go away check in with your midwife for the babys heart rate. Good luck

Two days before my daughter was born I was peeing every 15 minutes, and then 1 day before I had horrible lower back pain. Packed a bag, and sure enough, the next morning I was rushed to the hospital.

this is because your body is getting ready for the delivery, and your hip bones are accomodating. Google it, or watch this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xath6kOf0NEfeature=user

I had the same pain when I was pregnant with my son. The only thing that seemed to help was laying on my side or constantly walking around. You are starting labor...I had the pains for 2weeks.
