Did I get a chemical burn from using Nair?

I used Nair for my bikini line (this wasn't the first time) and afterwards, I felt a huge burning sensation just on one small area. It turned out right and the skin had peeled off. Now it's a couple days later and it's turning blackish because of the scab. Why did it burn one area only? I meant "It turned out red".

Ouch, I had the same problem with Nair on my legs. It could have something to do with sensitive skin reacting with the chemicals in that area I'd say.
