Question:

34 weeks pregnant, let toddler sleep on my stomach?

- 2011-06-17 06:32:05 - Pregnancy

I am 34 weeks along, and i usually sleep on my back. My daughter 2 years old had a fever yesterday night and needed my attention. So she slept with me. I slept on my back and she slept on top of me and my belly to which I held her. I woke up this morning and I freaked out cause I didnt mean to let her sleep on my, I just wanted her to get some rest til I placed her back in bed... I have some minor small cramps around my belly, which im sure maybe i hurt my uterus in some ways, but is it possible that I hurt the baby with her laying on top of me all night??? Ive been freakin out waiting for the baby to move, eating cake and everything!!!?

Best Answer:

Having a toddler laying on you shouldn't harm the baby unless your child is incredibly obese (but I'm assuming she's just a normal sized toddler). It would just make you uncomfortable. Sounds like you might be sore. Stop freaking out, drink some OJ or some ice cold water and that will probably get baby moving.

Its not possible to hurt your uterus - its probably just a little *sore* from having the added pressure on it all night but she wouldn't have been able to hurt the baby in any way shape or form! If you don't feel any movement within the next 2hrs after drinking either some OJ or REALLY cold ice water then I would call your Dr. - but I'm almost certain that this is unrelated to your daughter sleeping on top of you

Awww..that's cute. I'm like 30 weeks pregnant right now, and I let my 3 yr old daughter fall asleep on my tummy, but i feel the need to sit/lay semi up so there's not so much weight on my back. Sleeping on your back especially with extra weight on top of you can be harmful to your spine...you'll end up paying for it later after delivery so try not to lay on your back for extended periods of time. If you already have let her sleep on you all nite, it's okay, most 2 yr olds are pretty light...just be sure to be doing sum stretches afterwards for you have bin' in that position for hours...:). Don't worry, everything will be super fine with your baby...it's you that u need to worry about..start laying on your side (preferably left side they say) w/your lil' one cuddled right next to you so you could still have that connection w/your daughter. I do it everytime w/my 6 yr old my 3 yr old daughters. They sleep in my bed all the time..lol. <3 Yayyy, u're so lucky! u got 6 weeks to go!! Go Momma Go!!! <3
